ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

CAP ST GEORGES HOTEL & RESORT - PROTECTS THE MONACHUS SEAL

Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort is surrounded by some of the most stunning nature in Cyprus. And we have made it our top priority to help maintain the area's natural beauty and protect its inhabitants, including the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus seal). The Mediterranean monk seal is currently the most endangered marine mammal species in the Mediterranean and the rarest seal species in the world. Interestingly, there have been numerous sightings of the Mediterranean monk seal in the Paphos region, specifically at the nearby Pegeia Sea Caves. The sight of this protected species of Mediterranean seal swimming in the crystal - clear blue waters is a rare but beautiful phenomenon. Passionate about environmental protection and preventing endangered mammals from becoming extinct, Chief Executive Officer of Korantina Homes, George Ioannou, has chosen to directly donate to the MOm group; the Hellenic Society for the study and protection of the monk seal. As such, all of our younger guests enjoying their stay at Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort receive a seal stuffed animal purchased directly from MOm, with the money donated to the research and protection of the seal. The MOm group is a Greek non–governmental environmental organization and non–profit association.
