He later took the helm as Head Chef at restaurant hotel De Nederlanden (*) in Vreeland in April 2007, subsequently becoming co-owner when the restaurant was acquired by a hotel group within 1.5 years.<\/p>\n<p>Hailing from the North of Holland, Berends showcases his commitment to the region by incorporating locally sourced ingredients and skilfully marries traditional Dutch recipes like \u2018Hete Bliksem\u2019 with a French culinary foundation and global influences.
